SZU signed a trilateral cooperation agreement with KGS and FTZU

On 28 April 2023, another key agreement on mutual cooperation with international overlap was signed at the SZU headquarters!

This is in fact the second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation this year, concluded between Korea Gas Safety Corporation (KGS) and the Engineering Testing Institute, Public Enterprise (SZU). The new partner is the Czech Physical - Technical Testing Institute, s.p. (FTZU) based in Ostrava.

This year's first MoU was signed directly in Korea by Mr. Tomáš Hruška, SZU Director-General, and it was a bilateral agreement with our long-standing Korean partner KGS, with whom our successful cooperation dates back to 2014. Since then, the scope of our mutual cooperation has been gradually expanded and adjusted. This year, in addition to testing and certification of gas equipment, we have also added the area of hydrogen fuel cells and equipment for hazardous areas. In particular, the area of ATEX testing and certification is covered under this newly concluded tripartite agreement by the Physical - Technical Testing Institute (FTZU), which is an expert institute in the field of testing and certification of equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. FTZU is also a Notified Body (1026), an IECEx Testing Laboratory (ExTL) and an IECEx Certification Body (ExCB).

KGS, SZU, and FTZU have agreed to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cooperate and gain global technical competitiveness in the field of safety, performance testing of gas appliances, components and equipment for use in hazardous atmospheres based on international standards. The purpose of the concluded MOU is to offer support to Korean companies to be certified in order to achieve the CE mark, on the one hand, and to support Czech companies in their certification for the Korean market, on the other hand.

Mr. Haejong Lim, President and CEO of KGS, attended the meeting and signing of the MoU, accompanied by other experts from KGS. Mr. Martin Zámrský, Director of FTZU, accompanied by Mr. Lukáš Martinák, his Deputy and also the Head of the Certification Body, acted on behalf of FTZU in Brno. On behalf of SZU, both partners were welcomed at the headquarters of our company by Mr. Tomáš Hruška, Director-General, who also conducted the business negotiations and who signed the Memorandum on behalf of SZU at the end of the meeting. SZU Korea was also actively involved in the preparation phase of the meeting in Korea and Mr. Michal Dvořáček, Head of Foreign Cooperation Department of SZU, conceptually negotiated it on behalf of all the named parties.

After a final visit of the Testing Laboratory at SZU in Brno and a warm discussion, the meeting was formally closed.
